The contest "Kindergarten of the Year" is held annually by the Department of Education in Moscow to determine the best institution for kids during the outgoing year. In the course of the competition jury members consider the teaching process, innovative and experimental activities of pre-schooling institutions and then choose the winners in the respective categories.

42 pre-school educational institutions participated in the competition finale "Kindergarten of the Year", which were divided into 5 categories:
- "Kindergarten" - 8 kindergartens;
- "Kindergarten of combined type" - 10 kindergartens;
- "Kindergarten of compensating type" - 8 kindergartens;
- "Kindergarten of general development with prior implementation of one direction of kinds’ development" - 8 kindergartens;
- " Kindergarten - Child Development Center" - 8 kindergartens.

 Besides, since the coming 2011 year is declared the Year of Physical Education and Sports, they held public defense of presentations focusing on topic "Physical education, sports, healthy lifestyle and a kindergarten", as a result of which they selected and awarded 7 preschool educational institutions with best presentations.

The organizers of the competition "Kindergarten of the Year - 2010" congratulated all the finalists and gave them honorary diplomas and gift sets provided by the publishing group "ROMART" together with well-known trademarks Vitrum, Teutonia, Burti Baby, Kamill, Timotei, Nyuda and MegaFon.
