In the 4th quarter of 2009 the publication for pregnant women and young mothers “Handbook on breastfeeding” got its anniversary. Exactly 5 years ago, in October, 2004 within the framework of the program "Healthy Child – to Moscow, to Russia, all over the world!", organized by the Moscow Department of Health Care, Russian State Medical University, the Foundation that supports and promote breastfeeding "LIVE DROP" and the company of marketing communication in the field of maternity and childhood "ROMART" published the first edition of the "Handbook on breastfeeding” for pregnant women and young mothers". From that time by the official order of Moscow Department of Health Care this publication is handed out to all women when firstly registering the pregnancy at antenatal clinic. First of all “Handbook on breastfeeding” for pregnant women and young mothers is a unique material aimed to promote breastfeeding. All the necessary information and practical recommendations on the lactation establishment and support, breastfeeding techniques and other aspects of it. For 5 years of its existence, the "Handbook on breastfeeding” for pregnant women and young mothers helped hundreds of thousands of young mothers to successfully breastfeed their babies. For 5 years of its history, "Handbook on breastfeeding” for pregnant women and young mothers were regularly edited and supplemented with new information useful for pregnant women and young mothers. Organizers of the project "Healthy Child – to Moscow, to Russia, all over the world!" will go on to develop this unique publication to remain relevant, informative, modern and timely source of information for future and young mothers. It’s hard to overestimate the value of "Handbook on breastfeeding” for pregnant women and young mothers. It always played great role in supporting and promoting breastfeeding and will be important ever. According to research carried out by the fund “LIVE DROP” that supports and promotes the breastfeeding there is steady increase in breastfeeding promotion - by 1.5-2 times according to information from different regions. Besides, the number respiratory and intestinal diseases of infants of the 1st year reduced by 2.5 and 1.5 times respectively. This publication as well had effect on such results as the major methodological literature, which is received by future mothers during pregnancy.
