On 6th of October at the conference hall of the Moscow City Government the 6th Annual International Conference for postpartum nurses in the metropolitan and suburban medical institutions took place. The topic of this year's conference is "The educational role of visiting nurses in promotion of newborn health".
The main purpose of the event is to raise the professional level of visiting nurses who visit newborn babies at home and examine them at children’s polyclinics.

Publications issued within the framework of the socio-educational program "University of motherhood" are handed out to young parents at children's polyclinics. This greatly simplifies the explanation part of work with people and becomes a reliable support for postpartum visiting nurses with the need to raise awareness of young parents and obtain their practical knowledge application. Various medical institutions, civic organizations, government agencies and experts in the field of maternity and childhood, support the «University of motherhood» program.
More than 750 health care workers in children's polyclinics of Moscow and Moscow region participated in the discussion.
In the course of the conference, participants discussed such topics as first-year kids’ nutrition and its effect on formation of child's health, peculiarities of newborn care, and besides could look over modern hygiene means for children and mothers. Presentations were made by leading pediatricians, health care specialists, medical academy professors.
