On June 4, 2020, the solemn ceremony of Platinum Ounce, the anniversary open competition for pharmaceutical industry professionals of Russia, one of the oldest professional competitions in the Russian pharmaceutical market, took place.
For already 20 years, the Competition, by expert voting, has determined the strongest players in the pharmaceutical industry, largely determining its trends and prospects. The impartiality and transparency of expert voting is guaranteed by the international audit company Ernst & Young, which has been the auditor of the Platinum Ounce for more than a year. This year, it was impossible to hold the ceremony in the traditional format, but this circumstance suddenly became a huge plus for the ceremony: the event, which the entire pharmaceutical market was looking forward to, appeared in a completely new form, marking not only the 20th anniversary of the award, but also its transition to a new one level. The large-scale interactive online broadcast format was a real breakthrough for the Ceremony and attracted great attention to the Competition not only in the pharmaceutical community, but also in the pharmacy segment of the market, as well as many medical specialists - several thousand people watched the live broadcast of the event. Some of the results of the anniversary Competition were a real surprise. I.e. Vector of the Year, the very first announced nomination, Dynamics of the Year sub-nomination for Company (Commercial Sector), two winners were named at once: Sintez and Krka, and in the Preparation of the Year nomination, Prescription drugs sub nomination, Bayer, its long-term winner, was replaced by the Merck and its heart drug CONCOR. The Organizing Committee of the Competition also decided to present the second statuette in the Drug of the Year nomination, OTC drug sub-nomination, to TAKEDA. The decision was dictated by the fact that Cardiomagnyl, the winner of the nomination, owes much of its success to the TAKEDA company, which was the owner of this brand until November 2019 and invested a lot of strength and energy in its promotion on the pharmaceutical market. Akrikhin has extended support to over 100 public healthcare facilities located in Moscow and Moscow Region by providing them with pharmaceuticals for patients from its own portfolio at no charge.
Considering that individual pharmaceuticals manufactured by Akrikhin may be used in therapeutic regimens for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), as well as for concurrent health conditions in the area of cardiology, paediatrics, endocrinology, general therapy and communicable diseases, the pharmaceutical company has developed and embarked upon the implementation of a socially important programme providing for free transfer of pharmaceuticals at healthcare facilities’ request, including delivery, to assist them with the treatment of patients in the current situation with the coronavirus disease. The list of such healthcare facilities includes resuscitation and in-patient departments in hospitals and ambulance sub-stations. The pharmaceuticals were supplied to the healthcare facilities of Moscow and Moscow Region in early May. Under the programme, Akrikhin provides healthcare facilities with its pharmaceuticals under donation agreements to deliver the necessary care to patients. To date, over 98 thousand packages of pharmaceuticals worth of over RUB 8.9 mln have been supplied to 30 hospitals and 70 ambulance sub-stations.
